Euro Assistant Pro Window   What's All in the Euro Assistant Pro Window?   Let's consider the Euro Assistant Pro window's items and their function.   • Close Box Click here to quit Euro Assistant Pro. • Zoom Box Click here to shrink the Euro Assistant Pro window to its minimum width and to move it to its standard position. • Size Box Drag the size box to horizontally resize the Euro Assistant Pro window. The window's height is fixed and depends on the number of displayed currencies. • Collapse Box Click the collapse box to hide all but the Euro Assistant Pro window's title bar. • Iconize Button Click the iconize button to iconize the Euro Assistant Pro window. • Displays The Euro Assistant Pro window shows one display for each listed currency. Each display is identified by the associated currency's ISO code and shows the associated currency's current amount. One of the displays is framed: it is the active display. All keyboard inputs are directed to it and edit commands (Cut, Copy, Paste, Clear) act on its content. To activate an inactive display, click it. Press tab (shift-tab) to activate the next (previous) display. Displays can be added or removed ("Add Currency" and "Remove Currency" commands in the File menu) and can be moved to a different position in the Euro Assistant Pro window (see ISO Codes below). A different currency can be associated to a display by clicking the corresponding currency popup arrow (see below). • Currency Popup Arrows Each display has a corresponding currency popup arrow. Click it to popup the Currencies menu and assign a different currency to the display.   The picture shows the Currencies menu associated to the DEM popup arrow. The German Mark is checked because it is the current currency. The Euro, French Franc and US Dollar are disabled, because they are already listed in the Euro Assistant Pro window. • ISO Codes ISO-4217 codes are standardized three-character abbreviations which univocally indicate currencies. Drag an ISO code and drop it on another ISO code to move the corresponding display to a new position in the Euro Assistant Pro window.    Drag an ISO code associated to a non-zero display to the desktop, a folder or a disk to create a text clipping with the displayed amount.    Notice that if the option key is pressed while dragging, then both the amount and the ISO code are clipped (e.g. "2064.70 EUR"). Clear all displays and drag the base currency's ISO code (see Base Currency) to the desktop, a folder or a disk to create a text clipping with the exchange (conversion) rates of all currencies listed in the Euro Assistant Pro window against the base currency.     Clear all displays and drag the ISO code of a currency which is not base currency (see Base Currency) to the desktop, a folder or a disk to create a text clipping with the exchange (conversion) rates of the dragged currencies against the base currency.    Finally drag any ISO code to the Trash to clear all displays. Notice that thousands separators can be included in all clippings by checking the "Include thousands separators in files and text clippings" option in the Preferences dialog box (see Format Preferences). Drop a text file or clipping listing numeric values on an ISO code to automatically insert all listed values into the corresponding display and convert them. See also Calculating Series Conversions: Importation. • Separators When several currencies are displayed in the Euro Assistant Pro window, it can be useful to visually divide them into different groups by adding one or more horizontal separation lines. The "Add Separator" command in the File menu inserts a separator immediately after the active display. When the active display is followed by a separator, then the "Remove Separator" command replaces the "Add Separator" command in the File menu. Choose it to remove the separator. Separators can be moved to a different position in the Euro Assistant Pro window by dragging and dropping them.   • Rate Button The Rate button displays the exchange (conversion) rate of the active currency against the base currency (see Base Currency). When the base currency is active, then the Rate button indicates it is the current base currency (e.g. "EUR is base currency."). Click the Rate button to open the "Currencies" dialog box. • Rounding Popup Button The Rounding button displays the current rounding of the active currency. The rounding is bracketed when it is (temporarily) greater than the one you specified in Rounding menu or in the "Currencies" dialog box (see Rounding Currencies). Click it to popup the Rounding menu and switch to a different rounding for the active currency.   The picture shows the Japanese Yen Rounding popup menu. The Japanese Yen is currently rounded to 1 JPY. Iconizing Euro Assistant Pro   The Euro Assistant Pro window can be iconized by clicking the "Iconize" button located at its bottom left corner or by choosing the "Iconize" command in the File menu. To de-iconize it, simply click anywhere in the iconized Euro Assistant Pro window or select the "De-iconize" command in the File menu.   The iconization of the Euro Assistant Pro causes the Tape window to be hidden (if visible) and all menu commands, but the "De-iconize" and "Quit" commands, to be disabled. Several preferences are associated to the iconization of Euro Assistant Pro: • The "Startup Iconized" preference lets you startup Euro Assistant Pro always iconized. • The "Iconize on application switch" preference automatically iconizes Euro Assistant Pro when it is switched to the background and de-iconizes it when switched back to the foreground. • The "Floating iconized window" preference, finally, transforms the Euro Assistant Pro window into a smaller iconized window, which floats over all other running applications. Euro Assistant Pro is automatically de-iconized if you click the floating iconized window.   These options are all particularly useful if you have Euro Assistant Pro in your Startup Items folder and keep it always running. See also General Preferences. Keyboard Shortcuts   • Tab Activates the next display. If the bottom display is active, it activates the top display.
